Mailbag: More on Penile Implants
Question:
I am interested in more information about have a penile implant procedure. I understand the the procedure shortens your penis. Can that be corrected in some other way. What about the pills that advertised to lengthen a mans penis. Could they be used after the surgery to make up for the loss in length? What about the stiffness of the erection? Sensations?

Answered by Dr. Bryan Kansas:
There are many options for ED. If someone has failed or just can't use the non surgical treatments, then a prosthesis is advised. When one gets a penile prosthesis they can expect that it will be as long as when they pull on the end of the penis when it is soft. This is called the stretched penile length. The erect penis w/ a penile prosthesis can be about an inch shorter than the normal erection. I use the LGX by American Medical systems and this can give back 1/2-3/4 of an inch over the course of 6-12 mos.
I would save my money on the penile enhance drugs.
Stiffness is excellent post prosthesis.
Sensation is good but different than a normal erection.
I am happy to see you at any point to discuss procedure and risks and benefits as well as show you the devices etc..,. AMS website is full of info as well. I do a minimally invasive infrapubic approach which I feel is far superior to penoscrotal from an ease of recovery standpoint. Look forward to meeting you at some point
