Dr. Lester Wang
Dr. Lester Wang was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He was accepted to medical school immediately after graduating from high school and completed the Six Year Combined B.A/M.D. Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Wang completed his General Surgery and Urology training at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. Subsequently, Dr. Wang was accepted in an Endo-urology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Endo-urology is a subspecialty of urology which deals with percutaneous and endoscopic procedures for the treatment of complex urinary stones, urinary strictures, and various urologic cancers.
After completion of his training, Dr. Wang joined the faculty at University of Kansas and was Chief of Urology at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City. He was involved in training residents and medical students in many complex urologic procedures-including complex urinary stones and urologic oncology.
Dr. Wang continues to have academic appointments at two urologic residency training programs at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington and the University of Washington. He has expertise with complex staghorn calculi, intra-renal strictures, and ureteral strictures. His forte is percutaneous nephrolithotomy. This is a procedure where large stones up to the size of the entire renal collecting system can be removed through several holes through the skin instead of major open surgery.
In addition, Dr. Wang is certified to perform Da Vinci Prostatectomy. He has experience with various laparoscopic procedures for the kidney and prostate. Dr. Wang has been in private practice for the last 11 years . He enjoys treating men and women with the help of their primary care physician and families.
Dr Wang is married to Shalphen (Chuo) and has three children, ages 11, 9 and 4. He moved to Texas to be closer to family.
